Moe’s Southwest Grill to Open in Bloomington

Popular Fast-Casual Burrito Joint Opens September 7, First Location in Minneapolis

Minneapolis, Minn. (Sept. 4, 2012) – “Welcome to Moe’s®!” will soon be heard throughout Bloomington when Moe’s Southwest Grill® opens at 2137 West 80 ½ St., near the corner of Penn Avenue and American Boulevard, on September 7. The new restaurant marks the first of five locations that franchise partner and Twin Cities native Paul Cherwien will open in the greater Minneapolis area. Moe’s Southwest Grill serves fresh made-to-order burritos and southwest fare in a fun and laid back environment.

When you walk by Bloomington’s newest burrito joint, the first thing you’ll hear is a familiar “Welcome to Moe’s!” It’s more than a greeting; it’s a way of life for the folks who customize each meal fresh to order, right in front of the guest.

All meals, including signature items like the Homewrecker burrito, Close Talker salad and John Coctostan quesadilla, are served with free chips and unlimited salsa from Moe’s fresh salsa bar. While Moe’s Southwest Grill is best known for its burritos packed with a choice of over 20 fresh ingredients, the menu also features kid’s and low-calorie options. At the same time, the menu boasts a wide variety of vegetarian and vegan offerings many of which feature organic tofu. Moe’s also offers all natural cage-free chicken, grain-fed steroid-free pulled pork, both with no hormones added, and 100% grass-fed steak.

After tasting Moe’s, Cherwien wanted to bring Moe’s to Minneapolis. In March 2012, Cherwien signed an agreement to bring five new restaurants – and more than 100 jobs – to the greater Minneapolis area in five years.

Cherwien is also considering Stadium Village at the University of Minneapolis and Maple Grove, among other areas, for the development of new Moe’s Southwest Grills as part of his agreement. Ultimately, company plans call for the development of an additional 40 restaurants in the Minneapolis-St. Paul market in the next 10 years.

Cherwien brings to Moe’s more than 23 years in the restaurant industry, having successfully developed 26 Applebee’s restaurants in the Indianapolis market, in addition to 30 Panera Bread Bakery Cafe’s throughout Philadelphia.

Guests can also try the new Coca-Cola Freestyle® soda fountain at the new Moe’s in Bloomington. The sleek, stylish new fountains are touch screen operated, enabling consumers to select from more than 125 regular and low-calorie beverage brands –including more than 70 diet, low-calorie and 90 caffeine-free beverages, 80+ unique brands offered nowhere else, as well as many varieties of waters, sports drinks, lemonades and sparkling beverages that, prior to the arrival of Coca-Cola Freestyle, were not available in the U.S.

The Moe’s Southwest Grill restaurant in Bloomington will be open every day of the week from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. For more information or to place a catering order call (952) 513-7182.
