Voting Begins for Moe’s Dead Ringer Contest

ATLANTA, Ga. (April  20, 2010) Over 5,000 people attempted to enter Moe’s Dead Ringer contest and today Moe’s Southwest Grill has announced the top 50 and has opened the site for voting. Visitors may vote for as many photos as they’d like one time per day until May 1. On May 5, Moe’s will announce the winners.

On January 15 Moe’s Southwest Grill asked anyone who is a dead ringer for a dead rocker to visit www.BEaDEADringer.com and enter the Dead Ringer contest for a chance to win $1,000, free burritos for a year and an invite to Atlanta for a photo shoot. The contest was designed to get Moe’s rock n roll image up on the restaurant walls, which is why the artwork will be distributed and hung at over 400 Moe’s locations.

“It wasn’t easy picking our Top 50,” says Joel Bulger, vice president of marketing for Moe’s Southwest Grill. “Now we leave it in the hands of our fans to pick the faces that will become the new artwork at Moe’s.”

The Dead Ringer Web site also has a Rock Your Face feature which allows visitors to put their faces on those of rock stars from a variety of musical genres and share the images with friends via email and social Web sites.

Like any good musical experience, the Moe’s Dead Ringer promotion features exclusive “merch,” with proceeds going to a good cause. Moe’s will donate all proceeds of Dead Ringer t-shirts and Moe’s guitar picks purchased at www.BEaDEADringer.com to the VH1 Save the Music Foundation, a non-profit organization whose mission is to restore instrumental music programs in public schools. This is the first of several Moe’s programs to benefit the Foundation. To learn more about this and future programs please visit Moe’s Newsroom.

All Washington, DC area Moe’s locations are hosting a free burrito giveaway & JDRF fundraiser on April 30

WASHINGTON, DC (April 13, 2010) Moe’s Southwest Grill helps the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) find a cure through the power of free burritos. On Friday, April 30 from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m., guests are invited to any local Moe’s to enjoy any burrito for free with the purchase of a drink. All Moe’s asks in return is that guests consider making a donation to JDRF while they’re there.

“This is our fourth year working with JDRF to assist with fundraising efforts,” explains Frank Maresca, local Moe’s owner and operator. “We always have a great turn out and a lot of fun thanks to our generous and supportive community. This year we hope to raise over $10,000 on Free Burrito Day for JDRF.”

The mission of JDRF is to find a cure for diabetes and its complications through the support of research. Since its founding in 1970 by parents of children with type 1 diabetes, JDRF has awarded more than $1.4 billion to diabetes research.

“We work everyday to find a cure for type-1 diabetes and great partners like Moe’s Southwest Grill help us get a step closer to reaching our goal,” explains Megan Trzcinski, JDRF Special Events Coordinator.
